It's been quite a good few days as I return back to Michiganland. Let us review: 1. The Circuit City fun I had a week or so ago. (Check my last post.) 2. I left my driver's license at my parent's house when I went to the airport to come home Saturday, stranding me in Newark for four fun-filled standby hours. 3. The reason my car hasn't been starting recently is much stupider than originally thought. (It was possibly the most annoying reason I could think of - and expensive!) 4. I spent around an hour on the phone with the IRS today arguing with them over the details of rolling over into a Roth IRA. That good time being established, I am now driving to Chicago tomorrow morning to celebrate the New Year in fashion with the Flaming Lips and the White Stripes. With any luck, I'll own some IKEA furniture as well. Worry you not, I will explain all of the above stated crap when I return. Happy New Year!
In case you haven't heard, Detroit has added another fine honor to its already overflowing basket of awards: Fattest City in America. In the interest of fair and balanced reporting, unlike our fine friends at Fox News - or any other form of mass media for that matter - I will provide some context. Namely that this award has nothing to do with the obesity of its residents. Rather it is simply awarded to the city with the worst air quality, most fast food stops, longest commute, etc. So basically it means nothing. In that spirit of worthlessness, I have gained back about 7 pounds over the Holidays (post-Thanksgiving) and must embark on a re-entry into the wonderful world of Atkins to get my ass back on track. For those of you who don't know, I lost about 25 pounds on Atkins in the spring and kept it off until I succumbed to the sweet siren's song of carbs this past month. The good news is that with induction (the first, stricter phase of Atkins) I should be able to polish that off within a month or two. I'll update sporadically, as I am prone to do. In addition, as we celebrate the new year - I am filled with an ambitious list of tasks for the next few weeks. I have begun scanning pictures for addition to the gallery. At this point, there's at least a hundred waiting to go up with more witty comments. Some are old from my old condo, but many are from my recent New York and Chicago trips. Hopefully, if my lovely girlfriend doesn't drag me somewhere tomorrow evening, I'll be able to do a bunch during the first round of the NFL playoffs. Normally, I wouldn't dare do something while the sacred games are taking place, but since the Giants sucked so badly this year, my heart has not been in it as much. The only good news recently was that Jim Fassel may be hired as the next Redskins coach, which would be of great help to the Giants as they get to play the Redskins twice a year.
I had planned on starting to upload all of my backlogged pictures yesterday, when all things USB apparently stopped working on my computer. As of now, i still have no idea what's going wrong. Both my scanner and the digital camera are not connecting to the computer. Being understandably frustrated, I then decided I have to do something successful in order to offset the USB evil. Thus, I have done all of the laundry in the apartment, ironed all of my shirts, started designing a new look for the site, and even had the time to do all the hardware modifications necessary to mod my X-Box. For those of you who don't know, Modding the X-Box allows me to do cool things, like backup my games and play video and audio files through my surround receiver (Denon - 1083 - the same model as the 3803). If you want to know more, then check this site out. Plus, now that my TiVo is similarly modded/hacked, I can play around with them and do things that only I think are fun. Basically, I've been fooling around without adding pictures. However, I still am busy with the whole Nissan thing, which I hope will end tomorrow (Tuesday), plus I have to help out Rock since his basement flooded (blown sump pump).
I'm up way too late, so I'll keep it brief. I finally got the digital camera working, so I have edited and uploaded the Chicago pictures. They are not available yet, as I will be captioning them this weekend, but the time draws near. In more good news, I successfully modded my X-Box yesterday. It was remarkably easier than I thought, but I shall not go into too much detail as the legality of such actions is in question. Why somebody would be breaking the law by modifying a product they clearly own is beyond me, but the Microsoft corporation, the MPAA, the RIAA and other such groups have far more lawyers than I.
