I'm wading through the last of the pictures. I've sorted through another 200 and have the same to go. Good thing we had a digital camera. They aren't posted yet. Maybe by tomorrow.
In the meantime, stop and enjoy the useless Google Ads in the middle of my front page. Just a test run here. It will soon be much less conspicuous.
Catching up on 16 days worth of BS is keeping us busy. Filed for unemployment the other day. It can be done over the web now, so it isn't nearly the horror it was last time. I'm almost disappointed to not be stuck in a room with a hundred of my closest friends who also had the great fortune of being fired or laid off. Lots of health insurance garbage as well as job applications.
On a good note, despite an unexpected slide in one trade, I'm up over 13% the past two months in the options market. That works out to about 80% a year, which means I'm about on target. The goal is a million dollars by age 35 - which if any of you knew me back in high school or college - I'm sure I told you it was my goal back then as well. I didn't think it would really happen, but look... here I am. Unemployed. In Detroit. And on my way to wild riches.
I've been a busy man this weekend, as it looks like I've acquired a new server over to which I can transfer all the hosting accounts. All of the downtime the past few months has sucked, and I've been looking for a way to get us out of Nocster. Well... I found it. If everything goes through tomorrow morning (Monday), I should be able to have everyone flipped over by the end of the week.
What does this mean? Everyone will now get "Fantastico" along with Cpanel - which is just snazzy. Throw in Urchin stats - to view your page hits and bandwidth and you've got a great deal for the same price. On top of that, there's some other pleasant surprises in store. Besides the better uptime, that is.
So, busy-busy. Check back on Wednesday for some more Trip stuff.
In the best news of the TV season, Variety.com is reporting that Arrested Development will be renewed by FOX. Unfortunately, Variety is a subscription-based service and I can only read the headlines. I suspect this is not an official report, but rather info they have gotten from insiders. Thus, it may not be cast in stone, but I doubt they would throw it up as a headline unless they were pretty sure.
Still, welcome news in AD's future, which has been described as "on the bubble" in every article printed in the last few months. I have hope for Arrested Development, one of the funniest new shows in the past few years. It screams "needs some time to find its audience" and I hope FOX gives it room to breathe. Much along the same path of shows like Seinfeld, it sticks out like a sore thumb in the current schedule, but given time - people will find it. I mean, what's another mildly underperforming show on FOX? They can float a weak link for a year. If it doesn't improve, well then you gave it a shot. If it does, it will have done better than you could have expected from any new show you would have put in its slot.
After finishing a 6,000 mile plus trip to explore the Western United States, Amber and I have decided that one 16 day road trip a month just isn't enough. So, Saturday morning we hit the road again, but this time, we head East, to the shores of the Atlantic! Well, not quite. We will be stopping an hour or so from the Ocean in Fayetteville, NC. It is there where we will be deciding the fate of the next few years of our lives and where on earth I'm gonna live next.
What does this mean for you, website visitor? Stunningly, no updates until Wednesday. But by then, Amber and I will announce our new home and employment. It looks like this will be the shortest time on the Unemployment dole ever at about 1 week. Good times.
Sorry for the vagueness, but that's how it has to be until we make it official. If you're really concerned, you can email me or call me if you have my cell. But otherwise, just sit back and wait for the goodness to develop.
P.S. It's official now. Arrested Development is back at 8:30 between the Simpsons and Malcom - and will be shown in High Definition. THAT is good times.
