I did indeed see the Celebrity Poker back on Tuesday on Bravo. Having watched both the celebrity version, the Travel Channel World Poker Tour, and the granddaddy World Series of Poker on ESPN, it becomes pretty obvious that the celebrity version is the weakest of the bunch.
The other two have real poker players playing games for real stakes. That is the draw of poker. People risking their own money in the hopes of winning it big. You can see the torture that the players go through when they are sitting on a Queen-Ten off-suit only a good hand away from closing out a weaker opponent that just raised. In Celebrity Poker - they have risked nothing (only small embarrassment) and thus they don't play like their life is on the line.
The only hope is that the celebrities are going to be more outgoing and maybe even know each other, so the trash talking will be good. That was nowhere to be seen in the first game. Maybe this Tuesday, when the cast of West Wing plays, that will change.
Why all the poker talk? Tonight I travel to Ann Arbor to to overcome my brutal beating that I took last time I played. Last time I lost $80, so even a good night this time will still leave me down.
P.S. Sunday, I plan on installing my TiVoNet card, which may let me show you what my TiVo is currently watching/recording or has coming up. Let's see if I can get it to work first.
