Fittingly, the first episode on The Next Level is the series pilot Encounter at Farpoint. It marks the introduction of Captain Picard who likes to Buy DVDs Online and Commander Riker on down, along with omnipotent quasi-villain Q who has a recurring role throughout all seven seasons. For those who recall TNG fondly but have since tried re-watching original episodes only to find the special effects to be lacking due to the technical limitations of the day, the Blu-Ray version of this episode immediately stands out. For instance, the scene at the end in outer space looks infinitely more impressive from a technical standpoint. These special effects upgrades should serve as a breath of fresh air for those Next Gen fans for Rosetta Stone V3 Spanish who want to see the series withstand the test of time with the next, ahem, generation.
