Election Links

Hey, want to waste time obsessing about the upcoming election? Do what I do every morning! Visit these two sites for more info than you can shake a stick at. Fancy Clickable Electoral Map with Polls I love this one, its so fun and easy to play. Not wonkish enough for you? The check out The Note. Updated absurdly frequently (a full morning piece, then updates during the day in "Noted Now"). It is a comprehensive look at what everyone is talking about - newspapers, TV, pollsters, campaigns, etc. There is no direct link to the day's Note, so you'll have to find it on the Politics page. It takes awhile to wade through, but it's worth it. Bonus link! Bonus link! McSweeney's Internet Tendency has been maintaining a reason a day not to vote for George Bush. Most of the reasons aren't huge, and some seem to be really picky, but taken in aggregate, I think they do a good job of expressing why he is such a monumentally bad President.

I'm so TiVo sexy

Just finished hacking my new SDTiVo, to go along with my hacked HDTiVo. Good times. Well, at least mind-numbingly frustrating times. So, that's how I spent my Giants-free weekend. Now, after I finish watching all the shows on my old SDTiVo, it goes on EBay. I just checked the pricing on the old TiVo, and its not worth selling. Poop. Back to the world of broken dreams. There's some more audio in the gallery under the Kix Morning Crew section. A moderately funny piece about eating in subways. I have to sleep now.

Chris on the Internet Radio

One of my friends at Cumulus, John Lloyd ( who was also recently crowned Fayetteville Idol), has a weekely internet radio show. It starts tonight at 8PM. He has graciously asked me to be a part of the show and if you want to hear it, go to Shoutcast and search for Monkeyspunk. The show is an hour and starts at 8PM.

Ron and Liz Away!!! ...maybe.

Ron and Liz are hopefully on their way home to the big MI after spending a spendiferous weekend here in the NC. (Referring to states by their postal codes... catch the fever... treat it with antibiotics...) We did very little this weekend in the exciting department, but we did watch Saved! and Super Size Me! I'm not sure if both of those movies end in exclamation points, but they should. Needless to say, they were both very good. Saved was pretty funny, but Mandy Moore's character was just a little thin. I mean, I think most of us know someone like that, but it's just creepy to think that someone could be so shallow. I think I would have preferred a little complexity more than just "she's the Prom Queen, but very Christian". Super Size Me was funny, because a month of fast food almost killed him. He almost had to call off the experiment three weeks in because his liver was failing. Also, if you get the DVD, check the extras for the "Smoking Fry". It's a great little piece on the make-up of McDonald's Fries versus real fries. It looks like we're going to do this internet show live on Wednesday, but I don't have any more details at this point. I'm sure you won't get any here. Finally, the Giants are 4-1. 4-1!!! And there's a pretty decent chance that they'll go 11-5. Holy crap. And to think I'd written the season off. I guess this just shows that the problem wasn't Ernie Accorsi, but Jim Fassell. P.S. Posted another new MP3 in the Kix Audio section of the gallery. As always, I appreciate any feedback.

New Audio

I posted a little ditty about the Olympics and a man in a tutu. It's, well... definitely sound. As usual, I await your feedback or stampeding indifference. Check out the Audio Gallery for the cut. It's in the top section. I'm getting a haircut soon. Ron and Liz are coming. For them, I hope my hair is short. P.S. Sometime next week I will be appearing on an internet radio show run by some friends at work. I'll post the link when I get it, but it will air next Wednesday night I think. Maybe I'll post the whole show in MP3 format here as well if they allow.

Everybody With A Morning Show, Take One Step Forward

Not so fast, Chris!!! Yes, Yes, Yes... Chris is not unemployed, quite. However, he no longer will be co-host of the Kix 106.9 Morning Crew. I'm not sure if I can post the details, so you'll have to wait til the weekend, but rest assurred that Chris's life has taken an abrupt and bizarre turn. The Kix 106.9 Morning Crew is no more. Good news for you, though. This will mean that the rest of my audio will be posted sometime this weekend, allowing you to judge for yourselves the genius of that decision. I think I will be working for the station in another capacity, but I am not sure yet. In case you are wondering, I worked at WKQB for just under three months. None of that time occurred during a ratings period, so there is absolutely no way to tell if I had an impact, negative or positive. I did some funny stuff (I thought), but it does not matter. I can't say I'm particularly surprised that they would do this, but I was a little surprised at the timing. I guess if I cared what they thought about me, I would be more bothered. Instead, it's just another pile of shit that I have to climb out of. You do what you have to do. Right now, I have to sleep.
