Thanks for stopping by Preppermint and checking out our blog.  We (and by we I mean Chris) will have updates, ideas and other ponderations here for your perusal.

We want you to know that this is not just another prep service.  Other prep services are one-way streets.  They do some work, and you get it.  If you don't like it, then don't use it.  We don't believe in that take it or leave it stance.

Preppermint Welcomes Rocky Allen

E-mail Print

We would like to welcome the Rocky Allen as a Preppermint affiliate!

Rocky, Blain and the rest of the crew can be heard weekday afternoons from 3-7 PM on 95.5 WPLJ-FM, New York. Rocky has been nominated multiple times for both Major and Large Market "Billboard Personality of the Year" and been #1 in New York City and four other markets.

When it was time to redesign their personal show website, Rocky knew that he needed a way to keep his site fresh with new content every day.

"If you mention your own website on the air, of course people will visit.  But unless you keep updating the site, they won't come back.  Having to retype prep just so I could email it to the webmaster and then waiting for them to get around to it is too frustrating to deal with on a daily basis, and soon you just stop doing it and visitors drop off."

"With Preppermint, I can update my site instantly with just a click.  When I tell listeners a story will be on our website, they can count on it because its already there - no more telling them that we hope to get it up in the next few days.  Preppermint just gets it done."

If you are interested in getting Preppermint for your station or show, call Chris at 910-221-7955 or email us.  We can help you like we helped Rocky.

Mohammed on South Park

E-mail Print

Been real busy with the project, still a few days from launch.  Last minute bugs and all that.  Still had enough time to catch Wednesday's episode of South Park - Cartoon Wars - Part II. After watching Comedy Central censor an image of Mohammed after an hour of plot highlighting the reasons why doing so is a horrible idea - I went to SouthParkStudios.com - the official site. And I read through the humorous FAQ and saw this:

On the right is Mohammed uncensored. In Season 5.

Everybody with a job in radio take one step forward...

E-mail Print

Not so fast Chris.

Yes, your lovable web host has lost his job as the afternoon jock for Thunder1069.com.  In a format change, I was laid off.  Now, I know you are now worried for me.  Don't.  Well if you were actually worried for me you don't have to be.

Because I didn't quit - and I have gotten very close to doing so almost every day over the last 18 months since I first was fired by Cumulus - I got my severance and I will be allowed to collect unemployment.  So, I basically just got a six-month paid vacation from a job I hated.

Now, it won't actually be a vacation because I have been working on a side project on weekends for the past few months.  Now I will be able to devote my full time and attention to it so we can have a full launch soon.  So I may actually be busier than before.  And I will be happier than before.

Good times, Great oldies!

I like how boogers smell

E-mail Print

I just want to warn everyone right off the bat that this is not a metaphor or something.  I actually like the smell of boogers.  I suspect it comes from the same place where you like your own farts, but not those of others - but I don't hear people talking about this as much, so maybe not.

I am currently entering about day 6 of a cold/flu - it started off weak, but then gathered strength over the weekend, much like the Nor'easter that dropped two feet of snow on my parents' (and my childhood) home.  Every time I get sick, I make the same observations about being sick, but I'm too sick to write them down.  Soon, I forget them and then rediscover them when I get re-sick.  It's my own personal Memento.

One of the most exhilarating parts of being sick is that moment - it comes every two hours or so - that you're not expecting.  It sneaks up on you and seconds before it happens you realize it is happening and all is good - until you realize what actually just took place.

JFK had security msgs, gate instructs, kids, and CNN Headline News all blaring at full volume. Calcutta train station probably less chaotic.
